Using Netscape Mail

Now that you have Netscape installed, it should be configured and customized to serve you best. First, open and run Netscape. If you receive any errors or longs periods of delay, make sure that you have established a connection to InterNeTT.Net.

You may at this point be prompted whether or not you wish to connect to Netscape’s site to complete the Netscape Configuration. You may wish to do this to get step-by-step instructions for configuration, but it is not necessary for the correct functioning of Netscape. All you need to do is as follows

From the Options menu click on Mail and News Preferences... and you will be presented with a window that has several tabs along the top. First, choose the Servers tab.

Fill in the following information:
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: mail.internett.net

  • "Your Outgoing delivery Boy"
  • Incoming Mail (POP) Server: mail.internett.net

  • "Your Incoming delivery Boy"
  • POP User Name: your userid
"Your User name on our system"
  • News (NNTP) Server: {provided by your dial up service}

  • Next, click on the Identity tab:
Next, click on the Organization tab:
Your Name:your name or business name
    Your Email:your-name@your_domain.com
    Reply-to Address:your-name@your_domain.com
    Your Organization:Your company name
Remember Mail Password:make sure this is checked!

For your name enter your name or business name, for instance John Doe or ACME, Inc. For organization, enter whatever you would like. Enter all other fields exactly as shown in this document. Click on OK when done.

    Congratulations!
You've just finished installing and configuring Netscape Mail!
